جرت هذه الإغتيالات السياسية بحق الزعماء الكورد بسبب عدم وجود نقطة إلتقاء سياسي بين القادة الكورد والساسة العراقيين، لذلك فُقدت البوصلة السياسية كركيزة للحوار وحل محلها الإغتيال السياسي.
