هذا الكتاب "صيانة صحيح مسلم" هو شرح لكتاب "صحيح مسلم" الذي يعتبر هو و"صحيح البخاري" من أصح المصنفات على الإطلاق. ومما يزيد من أهمية هذا الشرح أنه لعالم فذ ذي مكانةٍ مرموقة بين الحفاض والمحدثين. وقد احتوى الكتاب على العديد من المسائل الفقهية والحديثية واللغوية مقارباً لطريقة القاضي عياض في كتابه إكمال المعلم ولولا أن عاجلت المنية الشيخ ابن الصلاح لكان كتابه من أنفع الكتب شرحاً لصحيح مسلم.
وبالنظر لأهمية هذا الكتاب فقد اعتنى "فريد عبد العزيز الجندي" بتحقيقه حيث قام ببيان مواضع الأسانيد والأحاديث التي ذكرها المصنف في صحيح مسلم، ونقل الحديث كاملاً إذا لزم الأمر، كذلك خرج الأحاديث الأخرى التي ذكرها المصنف وليست في صحيح مسلم ثم أشار إلى بعض كتب الرجال والتراجم للرجال الذين ذكرهم المصنف.
