ان المتتبع للاحداث التاريخية في الاندلس يشعر ان الاندلسيين لم يقدر لهم الاستمتاع بحياة مستقرة، فعهد الولاة كان عهداً مضطرباً من خلال العصبية القبلية التي بدا فتيلها مشتعلاً بين القيسية واليمنية، وفي النصف الثاني من عهد الحكم الاموي أخذت عوامل الضعف والانقسام تدب في كيان المجتمع الاندلسي، إذ أبتليت بخلفاء ضعفاء، سرعان ما أضحت البلاد بفضلهم نهباً لفتنة عاتية قضت على عهدهم وفرقت وحدة الاندلس، فانقسمت الى دويلات يستأثر بكل واحدة منها حاكم أو أمير، وهو ماعرف بعهد ملوك الطوائف، وانفق هؤلاء الملوك اموالاً طائلة لتثبيت اركان حكمهم، وانساق معظمهم وراء مصالحهم الذاتية، حتى وصل بهم الهوان ان يدفعوا صاغرين الجزية الى الروم، ودارت رحى الحرب بينهم واستعانوا بالروم في حل خلافاتهم، بل ان بعضهم تحالف مع الروم ضد جيرانه من المسلمين!، وبعد ان دالت دولة الطوائف خضعت الاندلس لحكم الافارقة واصبحت تابعة لا متبوعة، فالسلطة الرئيسة اضحت في افريقيا بيد المرابطين والموحدين، وهي التي تعين ولاتها في الاندلس، الذين عاثوا فيها فساداً، وفي عهديهما اخذت المدن الاندلسية تتهاوى في يد الاسبان مدينة اثر اخرى، ولم يبق سوى غرناطة وبعض الحصون التي ظلت تقاوم ردحاً من الزمن تحت ظل دولة بني الاحمر، التي قامت على انقاض دولة الموحدين، والتي سقطت تحت ضربات النصارى المتوالية في آخر الامر، مؤذنة بافول شمس الاسلام عن الاندلس.
