بوب وودورد: قصة صحفي غيّر مسار التاريخ الأمريكي
يعد بوب وودورد، المولود في 26 مارس 1943 بمدينة جنيف في ولاية إلينوي، أحد أبرز الصحفيين الاستقصائيين في التاريخ الأمريكي المعاصر. نشأ في بيئة قانونية حيث كان والده رئيساً لإحدى المحاكم، وعلى الرغم من انفصال والديه في سن مبكرة، استطاع المضي قدماً في مسيرته التعليمية المتميزة.
بدأت رحلته الأكاديمية والمهنية بحصوله على منحة في جامعة ييل المرموقة، حيث درس التاريخ والأدب الإنجليزي. بعد تخرجه عام 1965، خدم في البحرية الأمريكية لمدة خمس سنوات، مما أكسبه خبرة حياتية عميقة.
لكن نقطة التحول الحاسمة في حياته كانت تحقيقه الصحفي الشهير في فضيحة ووترغيت عام 1972، بالتعاون مع زميله كارل برنستين. أدى هذا التحقيق إلى كشف سلسلة من المخالفات السياسية التي قادت في النهاية إلى استقالة الرئيس ريتشارد نيكسون. نال هذا العمل الصحفي جائزة بوليتزر المرموقة، وتحول لاحقاً إلى فيلم سينمائي ناجح.
واصل وودورد مسيرته المهنية المتميزة، وفي عام 2018 أصدر كتابه "الخوف: ترامب في البيت الأبيض"، الذي استند إلى مقابلات موسعة ووثائق حصرية، محققاً نجاحاً كبيراً في المبيعات. وصفته صحيفة رولينغ ستون بأنه "واحد من أكثر الصحفيين المحترمين في التاريخ الأمريكي"، مؤكدة مكانته كأحد أعمدة الصحافة الاستقصائية الأمريكية.
