عماد عبد السلام رؤوف (بغداد 1948-) مؤرخ ومحقق و مفكر عراقي.
ولادته ونشأته
ولد عماد عبد السلام رؤوف العطار في بغداد سنة 1367هـ/1948م، من عائلة موصلية الأصل عباسية النسب وتلقى علومه الأولية فيها.
دراسته
دخل كلية الآداب في قسم التاريخ وتخرج فيها عام 1970م. ثم واصل دراسته العليا في جامعة القاهرة ونال شهادة الماجستير في التاريخ الحديث عام 1973م، عن رسالته (ولاية الموصل في العهد الجليلي 1749-1834). ونال شهادة الدكتوراه عام 1976م في الجامعة ذاتها عن رسالته (الحياة الاجتماعية في العراق في عهد المماليك 1750-1831).

للمرأة في بلادنا تأريخ لم يُكتب حتى الآن أو في الأقل لم تجمع اجزاؤه لتكون صورة متكاملة توضح الأدوار التي أدتها سواء أكانت سياسية أم إقتصادية أم إجتماعية وفي الواقع فإن إشارات عديدة وإن كانت متفرقة دلت على أهمية ما ادته من تلك الادوار وما قامت به من أعمال، وإن كان المؤرخون سكتوا - إلا قليلاً - عن بيان تاريخ المرأة في رسم معالم الحياة العامة للبلاد، فليس ذلك لأنهم لم يَرَوا فيه ما يستحق التسجيل، وإنما لأنهم لم يرغبوا في تسجيل ما رأوا، فكَتَبَة التاريخ هم جميعاً رجال، وقد كتبوه على وفق مفاهيمهم هُم، فليس من المتصوَّر أن يُعنى أحدهم بتوضيح أثر المرأة في شأنٍ يَراه من شؤون الرجال خاصة، كتولي حكم، أو إدارة بلاد، أو إتخاذ قرار مهم مثلاً.
وربما لاحظ القارئ ذلك العدد الوافر من الكتب التي اختصَّت بالحديث عن أخبار النساء، لا سيما الكتب التي تحمل عنوان (أخبار النساء) لمؤلفين من أمثال: أسامة بن منقذ، وابن الجوزي، وابن حاجب النعمان... إلخ، إلاّ أن عليه ألاّ يتصور بأن هذه الكتب قد أرادت بيان دور المرأة في مجتمعها، لأن أكثر تلك الكتب كتبت عن المرأة إشباعاً لفضول الرجل ليس إلاّ، ومنها ما عمد إلى إختيار النوادر والحكايات إثارة لقرائها من الرجال وتشويقاً لهم.
