علم الميراث من اجل العلوم وأهمها في الرعاية والعناية فحث صلى الله عليه وسلم على ذلك في الكثير من أقواله ومنها قوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: (تعلموا القرآن وعلموه الناس وتعلموا الفرائض وعلموها فإني امرؤ مقبوض والعلم مرفوع ويوشك أن يختلف اثنان في الفريضة والمسألة فلا يجدان أحداً يخبرهما) وقوله صلى الله عليه وسلم: (العلم ثلاثة وما سوى ذلك فضل، آية محكمة أو سنة قائمة أو فريضة عادلة).كما اهتم صحابة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من بعده بهذا العلم جل الاهتمام وظهر ذلك جلياً في حياتهم فيقول الخليفة الفاروق رضي الله عنه: (إذا تحدثتم فتحدثوا في الفرائض وإذا لهوتم فالهوا في الرمي). ومن الصحابة الذين كان لهم باع كبير في هذا العلم زيد بن ثابت وأبو بكر الصديق وعلي بن أبي طالب وعبدالله بن مسعود رضي الله عنهم جميعاً حتى أن الصديق رضي الله عنه خطب في خلافته فقال: (أيها الناس من أراد أن يسأل عن الفرائض فليأت زيد بن ثابت). كما اهتم الفقهاء بهذا العلم اهتماماً كبيراً حتى جعلوا له باباً واسعاً من أبواب الفقه الإسلامي. والبعض الآخر جعل له مؤلفات خاصة مستقلة به، وقد منّ الله عز وجل علينا ووفقنا في طرح مادة هذا الكتاب ليكون مساعداً في تبيين أحكام الفرائض يعين طلاب العلم في المراحل الأولى من دراستهم وكانت طريقتنا في هذا الكتاب التيسير على طلاب العلم في مراحلهم الدراسية الجامعية الأولى. والعرض مع الأدلة الشرعية للمسائل واتباع ذلك بالأمثلة. والبعد عن المسائل غير المحتملة في واقعنا والاكتفاء بالمسائل الواقعية. وطرح الأمثلة قدر المستطاع.
