تعمل "ماجي" في تربية وترويض الخيول الأصلية وتشترك في السباقات واكتسبت خبرة كبيرة في هذا المجال لدى جميع مربي الخيول الأصلية، وقد اضطرت للاعتماد على نفسها لكثرة أسفار والدها الذي كان يعمل في نفس مجالها ثم توفي، وضعت هدفاً نصيب عينيها: أن تكون لها مزرعتها الخاصة، عملت مؤخراً عند مربي خيول أصيلة مشهورة هو "رافي" من عائلة عريقة في البلاد هاجرت من "إيرلند" وأسست إمبراطورية في "أريزونا" بعد حرب الهنود الحمر إلى أن استتب الأمن بينهم بعد زواج أحد أفراد عائلة "ديلاني" من ابنة شيخ قبيلة "الأباش" كانت الشابة صارمة في علاقتها مع رب العمل خاصة وأنها سمعت عنه -قبل أن تعمل لديه- أنه معروف بأنه محطم قلوب العذارى، خاصة وأنها كانت متمسك بتحقيق هدفها الأسمى.
يقع رب العمل "رافي" في حبها ويحاول أن يجعلها تقبل الزواج منه وإقناعها أن ما يثار حوله هو مجرد إشاعات مغرضة، ولكنها ترفض إلى أن يقع حريق رهيب في الضيعة...!
اندفعت "ماجي" هاربة ولكن "رافي" توقع-في ذكاء-مناورتها، وقطع عليها الطريق بلا صعوبة. ثبتها في مكانها بذراعيه القويتين وأكمل حكايته:
-نعم هناك مقبرة وكل الديلانيين مدفونون هناك عدا واحدا.
-ومن هو؟
-إنه "ويليام ديلاني" وهو أحد الشاردين عن صفوف الأسرة، لقد قرر أن تكون مهنته الجريمة ولكنه لسوء الحظ لم ينجح فيها وتمّ دفنه في "تومبستون" ومعناها "حجر القبر" وهو اسم شنيع.
تنحنحت لتسلك حلقها وقالت منهمكة:
-يا للغرابة.. ولكن ألم يقترح أحد نقل رفاته إلى هنا ليدفن مع العائلة؟
-إن "بيرت" يرى أنه لا بد له أن يستقر في مقبرتنا في "كيلارا" أما "يورك" فيدعي أن العجوز و"ويليام" اختار مكان رقدته الأخيرة، ولا بد من احترام رغبته.
