"هذا الكتاب هو جهد من بين جهود الذين يعيشون قلق الإصلاح والتصحيح، والذين وطنوا أنفسهم على تلقي سهام أهل الجمود والتقليد، الذين تجرؤوا على الله فتبوؤوا موقع الربوبية التي اختصها لنفسها، في دعوى امتلاك كامل الحقيقة المطلقة، دون أن يستعيروا ممن تبوؤوا مكانه سبحانه وتعالى رحمته وعفوه وحكمته، بل استعاروا منه، أو من الصورة التي رسموها عنه تعالى في عقولهم، استعاروا شدة عقابه، ولكن إذا كان عقابه ملازماً لمعايير العدل المطلق، والمقترن بالرحمة التي هي أوسع من عدله، فشدتهم وغلظتهم تبتعد عن كل موازين العدلن وتنتزع من قلوبهم كل معاني الرحمة والإنسانية، وتستأصل من عقولهم الحكمة والتعقل والعقلانية.
الكتاب الذي بين يدي القارئ الكريم هو عبارة عن مقالات كتبت من عام 2002 ولغاية تموز 2007، تجمعها وحدى موضوعية. صحيح أن ما يجمع من مقالات في كتاب، هو غير ما يؤلف ككتاب منذ البداية، ولكن عدم وفرة الوقت، مع وجود الحاجة، وبتلافي الخلل إلى حد ما، باعتماد ثمة وحدة موضوعية، كل ذلك يمثل عذراً للكاتب بين يدي قرائه الكرام، آملاً منهم أن يتقبلوا العذر بكرمهم.
وقد اعتمدت في ترتيب المقالات العلاقة الموضوعية، أكثر مما اعتمدت الترتيب الزمني لكتابة كل منها، ومع هذا حرصت على ذكر تاريخ كتابة كل منها، إعطاء صورة عن التطور والتحول في بعض الأفكار والمواقف، التي يعتبرها البعض نقطة تحسب علي، ويسجلها آخرون لي".
