يعد علم هندسة المراجل البخارية أحد فروع علوم الهندسة الحرارية التطبيقية التى تحتاج فى دراستها الى الالمام بخواص الوقود وأسس عمليات الاحتراق وسريان الغازات وانتقال الحرارة الى جانب المعرفة التامة بخواص المواد وأصول تصميم المنشآت الميكانيكة، وقد من الله على المؤلف خلال السنوات الماضية بتوفيقة من خلال جمع المادة العلمية والتزويد بالخبرة العملية واستخدامها فى تطوير مفهوم المرجل ووضعه فى مكانه كمنشأة حرارية، وارساء اسلوب جديد فى معالجته بوصفه منظومة تشمل الحارق، وغرفة الاحتراق، وأسطح انتقال الحرارة، ومعدات التهوية، يمكن من خلالها تصميم المرجل وتقييمه وأختبار أداءه، وقد دفعنى الى نشر هذا الكتاب باللغة العربية الحاجة الى اضافة مرجع علمى يستفيد منه طلاب العلم والمشتغلون فى المجالات الهندسية المتعددة مثل التسخين، والتقطير، والتعقيم، والتجفيف، والدفع النفاث، وتوليد القوى.
يقع الكتاب فى ستة ابواب يحتوى الباب الاول والثانى منها تعريف المراجل البخارية وتوصيفها وتصنيفها، ويشتمل الباب الثالث على شرح لمعدات استعادة الحرارة، فيما يتضمن الباب الرابع أسس تصميم المراجل، ويعرض الباب الخامس طرق التفتيش والاختبار، ويختتم الكتاب بالباب السادس الذى يقدم كيفية معالجة الحسابات الحرارية لأداء المرجل.
