المثقفون الذين أعلنوا يأسهم مناي وحدة عربيةو يطرحون كثيراً من الاسئلة والتي يصعب الاجابة عنها وليهم الكثير من الذرائع والحجج الدامغة التي ترسخ يأسهم.
قد يكون هؤلاء المثقفون علي حق, فمقولة الوحدة لم تعد تنتمي الي الواقع, وامست مفردة غربية او شبة غربية يمكن ادرجها في معجم الاحلام المكسورة والآمال الخائبة, انها مقولة طوباوية مازلت تخامر عقول المثقفين والعروبيين والقوميين العرب والوحدويين, ومعظمهم ينتمون الي اجيال تقدم بها العمروالاجيال الجديدة الآن لم تعد تبالي بمثل هذه المقولة.
خلال المرحلة السابقة ارتبط المثقفون في شكل عام بالمشروع الوطني الشعبوي, سواء كانوا متعاونين معه او حتي خصوما له, سواء أكانوا يساريين ام ليبراليين ام قوميين حددوا افكارهم واختياراتهم انطلاقا من موقفهم تجاهه, بعضهم حقق ما يشاء من مكاسب وبعضهم تلقي ما سدد له من ضربات لكن في الحالتين لم يسكنوا, اليوم نلاحظ ان المثقفين في مواجهة الازمة اما انهم انتهازيون موزعون بين محققين للمكاسب المالية ونزلاء فنادق (النجوم الخمسة) المشاركين في الندوات والاحتفالات وبين مختارين المشاركين في الندوات والاحتفالات وبين مختارين لمهانة او معاونة النظم القائمة خوفا من البديل المقلق.
اليوم نحن في مرحلة جديدة حيث نجد تدهور الفكر القومي وحيرته بين الثوابت والمتغيرات التي طرأت علي ثقافتنا العربية وحياتها الاجتماعية والسياسية, مابين الرأسمالية والاشتراكية والديمقراطية, او الاستعمار الجديد الذي جاء وغزا المنطقة ورمي بثقله علي واقعنا الممزق,هل نجد وسيلة للنهوض؟ هنا لابد من مراجعة واقعنا وتحديد مسئولياتنا وكيفية الخروج من هذا المأزق الذي اوقعنا به انفسنا عندما تخلينا عن ثوابتنا.
