تشغل الدراسات الثقافية - القائمة على تفكيك الصورة النمطية وتمثّلاتها في النصوص بوصفها المرآة التي ينعكس فيها الفكر - إهتماماً مُلفتاً سواء أكان في الدرس الأكاديمي أم في خارج إطاره؛ لما تقتضيه أدواتها المعرفية من إعادة النظر في مجمل البنية الثقافية، ومن ثمّ فحص مكوّناتها بدءاً باللغة وإنتهاءً بمختلف أجناس الخطاب الثقافي، كذلك لما توليه من أهمية اقتضتها في تسليط الضوء المعرفي على أجزاء مُقتطعة من تراثنا الثقافي العريق انحسرَ عنها الإهتمام وتراكم إيغالاً في التهميش، إلى الحدّ الذي جعل مثل هذه الخطابات ممسوحة من الذاكرة الجمعيّة، بوصفها نفايات الذاكرة التي يجب طردُها مركزيّاً عبر قنوات ثقافية تُحاول إعادة تدويرها لأغراض تم التواطؤ عليها بطريقة شبه منهجيّة.
ولعلّ الصورة النمطية التي حيكت للمجنون في المتخيّل العربي منذ العصر الجاهلي وإلى نهاية القرن الخامس الهجري، خيرُ دليل على ما قُلناه من تنميط مقصود لهذه الفئة (وهم المجانين) إذ تنبري جملةً من المُوجِّهات العَقَدية والتاريخية والإجتماعية والنفسية لتغزَلَ - مُجتمعةً - تلك الصورة المُخيفة المُتغوِّلة لفئة من الناس أصيبوا في عقولهم لأسباب يعود أكثرها إلى العوامل الخارجية المُحيطة بالمجنون، بدليل إتصاف بعضّهم بالحكمة والدهاء وروح الفكاهة فضلاً عن براعة بعضهم في نظم الشعر، ممّا يدّل على إقتدارهم الواضح على الإمساك بزمام عقولهم.
إلا أنّ المركزيّة العقليّة أبعدتهم عن دائرة الإهتمام لكون أكثرهم ممّن يُجابه السُلطة بخطابه الثقافي ومن ثمّ يُعرّي المؤسسة السلطوية ومن ثمّ الثقافية التي تُعضّد الحاكم وتُسوّغ له كلّ ما يقوم به من أعمال.
وفي الختام لا أريد دفع المتلقّي إلى قراءة هذا الكتاب بقدر ما أطلب منه الوقوف لإنصاف فئة من المثقّفين الذين أسكت صوتُهم، وأريد لهم أن يُربّتوا على أكتاف المؤسسة المُنتجة لخطاب التفَحيل ثقافياً وكهنوتيّاً وإجتماعيّاً وسلطويّاً، ولكنّهم أثبتوا عبر خطابهم بشتًى أجناسه الأدبية أنّهم ذاتٌ لها ما للآخرين من حقوق، بل أكثر منهم، وذلك لإندكاك الآخرين في تدبيج صورة الحاكم إلى حدّ التقديس، فهم - من هذه الزاوية - يعبّرون عن أنواتهم بكلِّ ما تختلجه من أفكار وتصدره من مواقف.
