محمد بن سيرين البصري، الأنصاري بالولاء، أبو بكر: إمام وقته في علوم الدين بالبصرة.
تابعي. من أشراف الكتاب. مولده ووفاته في البصرة.
نشأ بزازا، في أذنه صمم. وتفقه وروى الحديث، واشتهر بالورع وتعبير الرؤيا.
واستكتبه أنس بن مالك، بفارس. وكان أبوه مولى لأنس.
ينسب له كتاب (تعبير الرؤيا - ط) ذكره ابن النديم، وهو غير (منتخب الكلام في تفسير الأحلام) المطبوع، المنسوب إليه أيضا، وليس له .

في هذا الكتاب عرض لطرائق تفسير الأحلام, ودلالات رموزها, بحسب آراء الأقدمين, ومنهم ابن سيرين, وعبدالغني النابلسي, بالإضافة إلى تفسير العلماء المعاصرين, وبخاصة للمرئيات الحديثة من سيارة وطائرة وغيرها... وقد بدأ الكتاب بمقدمة موجزة كافية شرح فيها أصول تفسير الأحلام ودلالات رموزها وكيفية التمييز بين الأضغاث أحلام, والرؤى الحقيقية. وانتقل بعدها إلى ذكر الأشياء التي يمكن أن يراها النائم في منامه, ورتبها ألفبائياً ليسهل على القارئ الرجوع إليها, وحلّ رموزها.
