لقد أصبحت اليابان رمزاً للجودة ووجهها الآخر في العملة فهما وجهان لعملة واحدة، والمتأمل في مسيرة اليابان منذ إنتقال عالمي الجودة الكبار د. ديمنغ ود. جوران إليها في عام 1951م يرى تحول بوصلة الجودة من الغرب إلى أقصى الشرق من حيث الإهتمام الأكبر والتطبيق الأبرز لمفاهيم وأدوات الجودة.
وقد تحولت اليابان من خلال أبناءها من مجرد متلقين لعلم الجودة إلى مؤلفين ومبدعين ومنتجين لمفاهيم وأدوات للجودة كالأساليب الإحصائية والتقنيات السبع الأساسية لإدارة الجودة ودوائر الجودة وغيرها من المفاهيم والنظريات والتطبيقات الهامة من علماء يابانيين من أشهرهم أيشكاوا وتاقوشي وشينغو وغيرهم كثير.
وإن من أبرز تطبيقات الجودة الحديثة التي لقيت قبولاً عالمياً هي نظرية التحسن المستمر كايزن والتي طورها الخبير الياباني: ماساكي إيماي في كتابه (كايزن - مفاتيح نجاح المنافسة اليابانية) عام 1984م ثم في كتابه الآخر (قمبا كايزن - الحس العام والفطرة نظام غير مكلف للإدارة) عام 1997م، وقد نجحت الشركات اليابانية في تطبيقها نجاحاً مثيراً للإهتمام حتى أن رئيس شركة تويوتا يقول... نحن نتنفس كايزن في تويوتا.
والمجلس السعودي في إصداره الثامن من سلسلة كتاب الجودة يسعد بإصدار كتاب "إستراتيجية التحسين المستمر كايزن - تطبيقات في التعليم" للأستاذة الفاضلة / سامية عبد الله طربوش رئيسة قسم الجودة التربوية بإدارة التربية والتعليم بمحافظة جدة والتي تبنت مفاهيم الكايزن تعليماً وتدريباً وتأليفاً.
