Book Description
This book includes two parts which complement each other; the first, which constitutes Chapter One is a general survey of Muslim education. It froms the background material for the monographic study which follows. Chapter One was originally presemted at a colloquium held in Cambridge (U.K) during the World of Islam Festival in 1976. It was subsequently published along with other studies by eminent scholars in The Islamic City, Paris, UNESCO, 1980, edited by professor R.B. Sergeant.
The second part of this book is a monograph on al-Madrasah al-Mustansiriyah in Baghdad, written by the author for his doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Sir Hamilton A.R. Gibb in 1957 and 1958 at Harvard University and presented to the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGiLL University (Canada).
