رحل الظالمون واحدًا بعد الآخر وبقوا في ذاكرة التاريخ رموزًا للسواء ورجالًا للبغي والعدوان وانتهاك حقوق الإنسان. لقد انتفضت الشعوب العربية أخيرًا بعد عقود طويلة من الظلم والاضطهاد لتؤكد أنها شعوب متحضرة, إيجابية، تستحق الحرية والديمقراطية والعدل، قالت الشعوب كلمتها لتوضح للعالم كله أن الشعب هو سيد القرار وأن الأمة هي مصدر السلطات.
أكدت ثورات العرب الأخيرة أن الحاكم مهما تسلط ومهما تجبر زائل ما لم يستند إلى شعبية حقيقية. وتكرر الإيمان بمقولة شهيرة اعتقدنا أن نرددها دون أن نراها تتحقق وهي أن دولة الظلم ساعة ودولة الحق إلى قيام الساعة. إن هذا الكتاب كما يقول مؤلفه مصطفى عبيد لا يحاول أن يحكي قصة الثورات العربية العظيمة، ولا يسعى إلى رصد أحداث ما جرى في مصر أو تونس أو ليبيا أو غيرها. إن الكتاب يحاول أن يجيب على التساؤل الأصعب، وهو لماذا سقطت الأنظمة العربية تباعًا؟ ولماذا ثارت الشعوب في هذا الوقت تحديدًا؟ وما هو مستقبل الحرية في العالم العربي؟
