وقد أظهر فى رحلته إلى بلاد السودان أهمية هذه المنطقة، وكذلك عادات وتقاليد أهلها وصناعاتهم وزراعاتهم، وكذلك كثيراً من شئون التجارة والعادات الأخرى. وهذا الأثر المهم يطلع القارئ على تاريخ وتراث دارفور ويبرز جانباً من التمازج والتعايش بين العرب والسودانيين من اهل دارفور الصليين كما يعكسه تاريخهم المشترك.
