هذا الكتاب، محاولة منى للبحث وراء حرب لا يعرف حتى معاصريها لماذا خضناها؟ ولماذا دخلنا فى معركة كان من الممكن أن نتقي شرها؟ بل إننا الآن نبحث عمن يعيد إلينا الماضى الجميل، لنقبل قرار التقسيم، ونأخذ نصف دولة بدلاً من أن نأخذ شبراً واحداً فى أي دولة!
هذا الكتاب رحلة، سافرت فيها بين شخوص وكتب ومقالات أخذتنى إلى عالم آخر غير الذى نعيشه الآن، فجيلى لا يعرف عن هذه الحرب شيئاً، وكل ما يعرفه هو "محمد الدرة" وانتفاضة الأقصى وما حدث فى غزة.
بعد أن تستعرضوا معي ما بين دفتى هذا الكتاب، ربما تجدون إجابة لسؤالي: "هل ندم العرب على رفضهم قرار التقسيم؟". لا تهمني الإجابة، بقدر ما يهمنى ما وراء هذا الإجابة، وهل سياتى بعد ستين عاماً أحد الشباب، ليحاول أن يسرد فى كتاب ما حدث فى 120 سنة نكبة"؟ أم أننا سنبحث عن قرار جديد للتقسيم؟ أم أن إسرائيل وحليفتها أمريكا، قد أتخذتا القرار بالفعل واقتسمتا كعكة الوطن العربي إلى الأبد؟!
