عاش معتز قصة حب رائعة مع رويدا في بلدهما في العراق، لكنه ابتعد عنها بعد أن انتقل للعيش في إيطاليا بسبب الأحداث القائمة هناك... لكن الصدفة قادته ليلتقي بها في مقهى في إيطاليا بعد مدة طويلة من الفراق... تزوج معتز من رويدا، وفي الليلة الأولى من زواجهما طلبت رويدا الطلاق واختارت اللاحب!...
سافر معتز بعد ذلك لزيارة الوطن حيث تعرض للخطر، والخطف، لكن رويدا شعرت حينذاك أنها ما زالت تحبه، لكن معتز كان قد تخلى عنها واختار مضيفة الطيران التي رافقته على متن الطائرة أثناء رحلة العودة إلى إيطاليا.
كان معتز يعمل منقب للآثار في إيطاليا، وأثناء عمله عثر على خاتم أثري حفر عليه صورة جولييت، فكر أن يقدم هذا الخاتم إلى رويدا ليعبر لها عن حبه بعد أن فشلت علاقته مع مضيفة الطيران، كان الخاتم الأثري يختزن طاقة هائلة يمكنها أن تحجب الشمس.
لاحقت أجهزة المباحث الدولية معتز من أجل مقتنيات أثرية إلى أن وصل الأمر لإختطاف رويدا مقابل الحصول على الخاتم.
وقع معتزّ في فخ الحيرة والعذاب في حيرة من أمره ايسلم الخاتم لأشخاص لا يعرفهم ولا يثق بهم وهو يعلم أن بإمكان هذا الخاتم أن يدمر جزء من الكرة الأرضية، أم يتخلى عن حبيبة العمر.
