تتجلى أهمية الدراسة، من وجهة نظرها، بأنها تناولت موضوعاً يملك الأولوية في الحياة العربية المعاصرة، والمتمثل في الكيفية التي يمارس فيها التيار القومي دوره بنجاح، حتى يتمكن من العودة إلى الشارع العربي، ويتسلم زمام المبادرة في قيادة الأحداث، والتصدي لها في المستويين الوطني والقومي، ومواجهة الاستبداد القائم الآن في الأنظمة العربية، وكذلك الفساد والتبعية، وتنشيط الثقافة الديمقراطية، وما تستوحيه من حراك اجتماعي وسياسي وثقافي، والتصدي للتجزئة بكل مناحيها، ومقاومة الاستيطان الأمريكي، ومجاهدة احتلاله للعراق، وتنشيط الحوار الجبهوري مهتدياً بفكر البدايات وعقوده السياسية/ الاجتماعية التي أقامها مع الحزاب الوطنية والشيوعية، والحركات الإسلامية على طريق الحرية والوحدة والاشتراكية.
تمثلت حسابات الدراسة ما دام موضوعها يتركز في علاقة التيار القومي بالشارع العربي بنهوضه وممارسة دوره القومي بناء على القانون الوحدوي: وحدة النضال العربي تقود إلى نضال الوحدة العربية وتخطي حالة العزلة الشعبية، وعودته المظفرة والميمونة إلى الشارع العربي، في أن المتغير الأساس خلال مطلع الألفية الثالثة، يتمثل في صعود الهيمنة الإمبريالية الأمريكية وتشكل القطب الواحد، ونشوء الإمبراطورية الأمريكية، وترافق ذلك مع تحالف القوى التجزيئية الحاكمة في الوطن العربي مع المد الإمبراطوري الإمبريالي.
لذلك كله، أقصد تلك الحسابات، جعلت الدراسة تمضي في تاريخ دايات التيار القومي على أنه داخل حدودها وتستأنس الدراسة بتاريخ الفكر القومي من أجل أن تقول أنه ترعرع وشب غداة نشوء ما سماه الفكر القومي "اليقظة العربية" التي كان لعملية التتريك شأنها في ابعاث هذه اليقظة.
