يعتبر هذا الكتاب الأول الذي أشار وبإسهاب إلى دور الثقافة العربية - شعر المعلقات والقرآن الكريم وشخصية النبي محمد - على التكوين الشعر لشاعر ألمانيا الأكبر غوته من خلال الدراسات والبحوث التي قدمتها الباحثة والتي عملت عليها طوال سنين حياتها لتثبت بالأدلة صحة هذا الأمر لأن أغلب النقاد الذين تناولوا تجربة غوته سواء الشعرية أو المسرحية أو الفكرية قد أكدوا تأثره بالثقافة الفارسية وتحديداً قصائد حافظ الشيرازي، خاصة في ديوانه الشهير "الديوان الشرقي للمؤلف الغربي" لأنه قام بإهداء العمل إلى روح الشاعر الفارسي، وقد نفوا أي تأثير للثقافة العربية على أعمال غوته.
هذا الكتاب كان قد نشر قبل عدة أعوام من قبل "عالم المعرفة" في الكويت إلا أن الدار، ولضرورات فنية تتعلق بحجم كتب السلسلة، قامت للأسف بإقتطاع الجزء الأخير من الكتاب المتضمن غوته والشعر الإسلامي امثال المتنبي والطغرائي وتأثير الأول على كتاب غوته الشهير "فاوست" أو الطغرائي وتأثيره على كتاب التفكير، كذلك الحكم وأمثال غوته وتأثرها بالحكم والأمثال العربية.
ولأهمية هذا الجزء قام إتحاد ديوان الشرق الغرب في برلين بنشره في كتاب صدر كطبعة شعبية من خلال دار ديوان المسارعام 2005.
