بحث علمي يسعى إلى بسط رؤيةٍ متكاملةٍ لتاريخ الزيديّة في إيران والعراق واليمن، على الرغم من أنّ الأخبار المتوافرة عن هذه الفرقة ما زالت مشتّتة ومبهمة. يركّز الكتابُ على التأثير الإيرانيّ في تاريخ الزيديّة، وإبرازه كونه أكبر من مجرّد ناقل للتراث الزيدي أو الرّابط بين مقلبيه في العراق واليمن، وعدَّه فاعلًا ومطوِّرًا له في أثناء مراحل خطرة من تاريخ هذه الفِرقة الحافل بالعقبات والحوادث. تحفل فصول الكتاب الخمسة وملحقاته الثلاثة بمعلومات كثيرة عن سِيَر أعلام الزيدية الإيرانيين ومؤلّفاتهم ومجالسهم العلميّة وتلامذتهم، وتأثيرهم في نشر العقيدة الزيديّة وتراثها الثقافي، في إيران وخارجها، ولا سيما في اليمن وبين علمائه وأتباعهم. يمتاز الكتاب بمنهج علميّ دقيق وأدواتٍ بحثيّة متكامِلة، فلم يتأثُّر بتعصُّبٍ مذهبيّ ولم يأبه بهوى قوميّ، وسخّر ذلك كله لتقصّي أهمّ ما يمتّ إلى عنوانه وهدفه الأصليّ، وتوثيق ذلك اعتمادًا على ما توافر من مصادر كتب ومخطوطات، ودراسات شرقيّة وغربيّة تناولت الزيديّة ورجالها.
