كان المؤلف على صلة وثيقة بمسلمي إسبانيا الثائرين, فتبنى وجهة نظرهم بعض الشيء, لكنه أطلق لخياله العنان أحياناً واعنمد على الأغنيات الشعبية أحياناً أُخرى, فجاء كتابه بعيداً عن موضوعية أورتادو دي مندوثا, وإن لم يسقط في مبالغات كارباخال.
