لقد شغلت الفترة الموريسكية التي تمثل امتداداً حضارياً للأندلس اهتمام كثير من الاخباريين والمؤرخين العرب والاسبان منذ عدة قرون إلى الآن، فمحنة الموريسكيين ومعاناتهم بسبب صدور مراسيم التنقيل والطرد ثم التنكيل بهم ومصادرة ثرواتهم وارغامهم على التنصر قسراً وتهديدهم بطائلة الموت، كل ذلك أرق ضمائر العديد من المهتمين بأمر هذه الفئة المظلومة. أن تاريخ الموريسكيين بالخصوص في كل من مملكتي غرناطة وبلنسية مثال فائق للحالة الموريسكية التي يمكن أن نعدها نتاج الهزيمة، هزيمة أولية في حرب الغزو أو (الاسترداد) كما يحلو للمسيحيين تسميتها والتي ختمت باتفاقات مزيفة في 25 نوفمبر 1491م، لم يتم الايفاء بها من قبل الملكين الكاثوليكيين منذ أن شرع المطران دي سيسنروس في تشجيع التنصير القسري للموريسكيين الغرناطيين، ثم ثورة 1499-1501م والتي وضعت حد لمرحلة المدجنين، حيث أصبح مصير المغلوبين أكثر وضوحاً، ولم يستطع التنصير العام ولا الاتفاقات الجديدة التي دشنت المرحلة الموريسكية ان تحمل مصيراً مختلفاً عما بات قائماً، فهي لم تكن سوى تثبيت لهزيمة جديدة افقدت كل أمل، وكذلك بالنسبة للثوابت الفكرية والذهنية لهذه المرحلة التي لم تثمر شيئاً آخر بحيث أعلن انتهاء حرب البشرات عن نهاية مروعة لحضارة دامت أكثر من ثمانية قرون، وبقيت محصورة لفترة متأخرة في المملكة النصرية البائدة.
