Book Description
يركز هذا الكتاب بشكل أساسي على تاريخ نشأة المدن الإسلامية وتخطيطها العمراني وبنائها الحضاري، وقد اشتمل على أهم المدن الإسلامية في العالم الإسلامي وبالذات التي نشأت منذ صدر الإسلام وحتى نهاية العصر العباسي، مثل البصرة والكوفة والقسطاط والقيروان وبغداد... إلخ.
وقد تعدى الأمر إلى مدن كانت قائمة قبل بزوغ فجر الإسلام سواء تلك التي كانت في الجزيرة العربية أو خارجها كالمدينتين المقدستين مكة المكرمة والمدينة المنورة أو صنعاء، وكذلك الحال ما كان خارجها مثل بيت المقدس ودمشق وحلب والإسكندرية... إلخ.
لأنها مدن إسلامية بالهوية والتاريخ والثقافة ولا يمكن أن يختلف اثنان على ذلك حتى تلك المدن القديمة التي نشأت منذ القدم ومنذ العصر الروماني أو قبله في بلاد الشام.
وقد قسم هذا الكتاب إلى عدة فصول، أفرد الفصل الأول عن الحضارة الإسلامية منابعها وأصولها وخصائصها، بينما كان الفصل الثاني عن البناء الحضاري للمدن الإسلامية، أما الفصل الثالث فخصص للمدن الإسلامية العربية في آسيا وهي إما مدن إسلامية مقدسة أو مدن قديمة نشأت من قبل الإسلام.
وأما الفصل الرابع فكان عن المدن الإسلامية العربية في أفريقيا وشمل كذلك مدن قديمة نشأت قبل الإسلام ومدن إسلامية كانت في الواقع إسلامية النشأة، وأما الفصل الخامس فقد خصص للمدن الإسلامية في أوروبا وشمل ذلك مدن الأندلس والقسطنطينية، وقد خصص الفصل السادس للمدن الإسلامية في المشرق الإسلامي في بلاد فارس وبلاد ما وراء النهر.
أما الفصل السابع والأخير فقد خصص لمعالم المدينة الإسلامية من المساجد المشهورة والمرافق المدنية والخدمات التعليمية والبلدية التي غالباً ما تزخر بها كل مدينة إسلامية، كما سيتضح في ثنايا هذا الفصل، وجميع هذه المدن التي شملها الكتاب، إما مدن مقدسة أو مدن عواصم أو مدن كراسي وثغور حملت مشعل الحضارة الإسلامية قرون عديدة.
