بقدر اختلاف المجتمعات وتباينها تختلف التربية في أنواعها ومفهومها وأهدافها وطرقها، والسبب في ذلك فعل وتأثير القوى الثقافية التي تؤثر في كل مجتمع علي حدة ، والأمر يتضح جليا إذا سلمنا أن لكل مجتمع إنساني قيمه ومعاييره وأهدافه التي ينشدها وتعبر عنه ويعمل جاهدا علي تحقيقها بطرقه ووسائله الخاصة به ، والتي تتناسب معه وارتضاها وذلك من خلال أفراده ولبناته المكونة له.والتربية تتأثر بالمجتمع وبتصوره أو بإطار حياته ، وأن التربية تقوم على مجموعة من المسلمات الفرضيات التى تؤثر عليها وتتأثر بها .. وعلى ذلك يمكن النظر إلى التربية بوصفها عملية تطبيع اجتماعي، تهدف إلي إكساب الفرد ذاتا اجتماعية يتميز بها ، فهي التي تجعل من الفرد عضوا عاملا في الجماعة، حيث يتطبع الفرد بطباع الجماعة المحيطة به ، وتحدث هذه العملية في إطار ثقافي معين يتحدد علي أساسه اتجاهها ومفهومها ومعناها ، ولكن هذا الإطار الثقافي يختلف من مجتمع إلي مجتمع آخر.
