ننهج في هذه الدراسة طرق البحث التقليدية المعروفة في المجالات الاقتصادية, حيث نلجأ لكل من الطريقة الإستقرائية والطريقة الإستنباطية فوفقاً للطريقة الإستقرائية اي الطريقة التاريخية يتم تمحيص و مقارنة أوضاع ومواقف وحالات فردية وصولا الي اكتشاف نقاط معينة متشابهة تقودنا في النهاية الي نتيجة او قانون محدد, ولذا نعتمد علي هذه الطريقة في الإستقراء التاريخي للاستراتيجيات التي إتبعتها دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي في تحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية, كذلك نلجأ الي هذا النمط من التفكير المنطقي في إستقراء الاستراتيجيات المتبعة حاليا في تنمية هذه الاقتصاديات, من ناحية ثانية نلجأ الي الطريقة الاستنباطية.
ومن هنا يتكامل الاسلوبان في هذه الدراسة, فهذه الدراسة تقع في إطار ما يعرف بالاقتصاد التطبيقي وبالتحديد الاقتصادي الصناعي التطبيقي حييث نركز اهتمامنا علي الجوانب الفعلية لتطوير الصناعات التحويلية وعلاقتها بالتنمية الاقتصادية في دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي, لكن ذلك لا يمنع من التعرف علي بعض مدركات النظرية الاقتصادية الجزئية و الكلية بإيجاز كلما كان ذلك مناسباً.
