محي الدين محمد بن علي بن محمد بن عربي الحاتمي الطائي الأندلسي هو أحد أشهر المتصوفين لقبه أتباعه وغيرهم من الصوفية "بالشيخ الأكبر" ولذا ينسب إليه الطريقة الأكبرية الصوفية.
ولد في مرسية في الأندلس في شهر رمضان الكريم عام 558 هـ الموافق 1164م قبل عامين من وفاة الشيخ عبد القادر الجيلاني وتوفي في دمشق عام 638هـ الموافق 1240م.
ودفن في سفح جبل قاسيون.

هذا الكتاب مظلوم، نعم مظلوم، ظلمه النساخون، وظلمه الناشرون دون تصحيح، وظلمته لغة المجاز التي كانت تكتفي بالإشارة بعد أن ضاقت العبارة عن نقل ما في الروح الصافية من مكنونات، وظلمه العلماء وبعض الفقهاء الذين رأوا في تحريف النساخ وتصحيفاتهم لبعض نصوصه زيغًا لا يحتمل، وخروجًا لا يمكن القبول به، فقد صارت عند النساخ على هذا النحو، حسن الظن بربك ولا تنسى - الظن به، يضاف إلى ذلك ما اتسم به الكتاب من غموض في بعض الإشارات المجازية التي لا يدرك مكنوناتها إلا الراسخون في عالم الشعر والراسخون في دنيا التصوف، ولغته التي تكتفي بالتلميح عن التصريح وبالإيحاء عن المباشرة، وربما ساعدت الظروف المعاصرة بما جد عليها من صراعات فكرية ومذهبية في اتساع دائرة الظلم على هذا الكتاب وعلى صاحبه الذي قضى منذ ثمانية قرون.
لمناسبة صدور الطبعة الجديدة من هذا الكتاب مصوبة وخالية من المغلوط والمدسوس يأتي هذا التقديم ليشير أولًا إلى الجهد الكبير والمتميز الذي بذله الصديق العزيز الأستاذ عبد العزيز المنصوب بعد ان عكف ما يقرب من خمسة أعوام لقراءة نص الكتاب بخط الشيخ الجليل محيي الدين بن عربي محققًا ومدققًا ومقارنًا النسخة الأصلية مع ما تمكن من جمعه من النسخ المغلوطة الأخرين التي قام بنسخها أناس لا يجيدون التعامل مع المخطوطات القديمة ولا يمعنون النظر في معاني الجمل والعبارات، وإنما ينقولنها خطأ ووفقًا لفهمهم المحدود.
