لقد حظيت جوانب كثيرة من فلسفة هيوم باهتمام الباحثين من هذه الجوانب نظريته المعرفية وفلسفته السياسية ونظريته الاستقرائية وفي مقابل هذا لا نجد اهتماما بفلسفته الاخلاقية صحيح ان هناك من تتاولوا آراءه الاخلاقية في مجملها وكان هذا هو ما دفعني الى الاهتمام بهذا لموضوع فضلا عن ذلك وجدت ان بعض آراء هيوم الاخلاقية يمكن مقارنتها ببعض آراء كثير من الفلاسفة المعاصرين. ولما كانت المسألة الجوهرية في نظرية هيوم الاخلاقية هي الاجابة عن هذا التساؤل: هل العقل بمفرده يمكن ان يكون اساسا تقوم عليه وتحدثت عن الاختلاق عن فلاسفة القرنين السابع عشر والثامن عشر السابقيين على هيوم ثم انتقلت الى "الاخلاق والعقل"وبينت الأدلة التى يقدمها هيوم لإثبات ان العقل بمفرده لا يمكن ان يكون اساسا تقوم عليه الاخلاق.
