مشكلة العنف في ملاعب كرة القدم هي بمثابة رد فعل لجملة من المشكلات التي تعوق طريق الفرد في مختلف مراحل حياته الخاصة، منها البطالة و الفقر ونقص فرص العمل والتوظيف وما لذلك من أثر بالغ على نفوس الأفراد و خاصة فئة الشباب في ظل وجود ظروف أخرى مثل التنشئة الاجتماعية غير السوية داخل الأسر، وسوء التربية و الإدمان على المخدرات و مجالسة رفقاء السوء وما ينجم عنها من أمراض نفسية وضغوطات مثل سرعة الغضب و القلق و التوتر، وكلها تعتبر أسبابا مباشرة لارتكاب الفرد أعمال العنف و اعتداءات لفظية وجسدية على حد سواء، كما أن ضعف التأثر بالقيم الروحية للأفراد وعدم التزامهم بالمبادئ الدينية و الأخلاقية يزيد من حدة موجة العنف اللفظي نتيجة لردود أفعال على الحالات الإستفزازية المتكررة بين المناصرين.
