إن عودة طالبان إلى المشهد السياسي وتداعيات انسحاب القوات الأجنبية من البلاد نهاية العام الجاري، 2014 إثنتان من المسائل الملحة التي تستدعي نقاشاً عاجلاً ومعمّقاً في المعضلة الأفغانية. ومن هنا أتى لقاء "منتدى العلاقات العربية والدولية"، الذي عُقد في الدوحة تحت عنوان "الحوار بين الولايات المتحدة وطالبان .. إلى أين؟". والذي سعى إلى مقاربة الموضوعات المستجدة في الشأن الأفغاني بمشاركة باحثين ومختصين قدموا تحليلاتهم ورؤاهم لاستشراف آفاق الحل على المدى البعيد، وآفاق المفاوضات المحتملة بين الولايات المتحدة وطالبان في المستقبل المنظور.
الكتاب الحالي استعراض لأهم المشاركات في هذا المؤتمر، بالإضافة إلى إسهامات أخرى تلقي الضوء على موضوع بالغ التعقيد سياسياً وإجتماعياً وإقتصادياً وثقافياً، وملحّ جداً إنسانياً. كما تتطرق إلى موضوعات وثيقة الصلة بالشأن الأفغاني، كإشكاليات العلاقات الأميركية – الباكستانية، ومأساة استخدام الطائرات بدون طيّار وازدياد عدد ضحاياها من المدنيين الأفغان.
نأمل أن يسلط هذا الجهد مزيداً من الضوء على إشكاليات الوضع الأفغاني، ونأمل أن يحفّز على المزيد من التقصّي لآفاق الحوار وسبل التفاهم بين كل المعنيين، وصولاً إلى إحلال السلام والسكينة في هذا البلد المنهك.
