أزعم أن هَذَا الشرح لتلك القصيدة مع كثرة الشُرّاح قد يتفوق على كل هَذِهِ الشروح مِنْ حَيْثُ غزارة المادة التي ضمها الكتاب، ومِنْ حَيْثُ حشده فيه الآيات القرآنية، والأحاديث النبوية، والأمثال، والأبيات الشعرية، والتي أعتقد أنه اعتصر دواوين الشعر العربي التي كانت متاحة بين يديه، وأفرغ مجهوده كله في دعم شواهده، بالإضافة إلى صحاح الجوهري الذي اتكأ عليه في معظم استشهاداته، ناهيك عن كتب النحو المعروفة، ولا أعتقد أن المؤلف تأتّى لَهُ ذلك إِلا من خلال إمتلاكه لمكتبة هائلة ضمت آلاف الكتب والمجلدات التي كانت في متناول يده وعلى الأخص دواوين الشعر العربي.
وأجدني أدعي أن الكتاب عبارة عن منهج متكامل شقه المؤلف في عالم المؤلفات والكتب، ورسمه بعناية ودقة ليُخلّد خلود الجبال.
وأستعير ما قاله العلامة الشنقيطي حول أهمية هَذَا الكتاب: ... جمع فيه من الفوائد ما لا يكاد يوجد في غيره، وَهُوَ شرحٌ لا نظير لَهُ، يشفي العليل ويروي الغليل.
وكان ترتيب هذا الكتاب في نفائس المخطوطات بالأندلس السادس والخمسين.
وقال عنه الدكتور شاكر مصطفى: ولعل أبرز المؤرّخين النّسَاخين: اثنان هما: ابن أبي طي ت 62هـ، المؤرخ الضخم الذي كتب (14) مؤلفاً في التاريخ بعضها في مجلدات عديدة، ولم يبق من أعماله أي كتاب، والآخر ياقوت الحموي التاجر النساخ.
