يعتبر الشيخ شهاب الدين أبو الفتوح يحي بن حبش السهرودي من كبار المتصوفة العارفين، جمع بين العلوم الفقهية والفلسفية والحكمة الذوقية، وكان السهرودي في أول أمره مشائياً يميل إلى طريقة الفلاسفة في حصر العقول في عشرة لا غير. وقد صنف كتباً عديدة على طريقة المشائين. وله تصانيف عديدة في العلوم الفلسفية والحكمية ومنها كتاب هياكل النور وهو كتاب تحدث فيه عن الجسم والنفس وأقسام العلوم الثلاثة ووحدانية الواجب (الله) وتقديسه عن الجسمية والتركيب.
كما تحدث فيه عن أزلية العالم وأبويته وعن إثبات الحركة الدورية والأفلاك حيث يبين أن حركتها إرادية لا طبيعية. كما ذهب إلى أن النفس تبطل ببطلان البدن.
ومن شراح هذا الكتاب الملا جمال الدين محمد بن سعد الدين أسعد الدواني الصديق الشافعي وله شرح لطيف سماه شواكل الحوز في شرح هياكل النور وهو هذا الكتاب وقد وضع على هوامشه حواشي واقتباسات كثيرة من كتب مختلفة كشرح التجريد وشرح المواقف وشرح هداية الحكمة وغيرها من الكتب المفيدة.
