تنصب هذه الدراسة على آليات وإجراءات تسوية المنازعات التي قد تنشأ عن عقود الفيديك النموذجية، وقد تم اختيار ثلاثة نماذج من النماذج العقدية التي أصدرها الفيديك بخصوص مقاولات أعمال الهندسة المدنية، وتشييد أعمال البناء والهندسة المصممة من رب العمل، ومشروعات تسليم المفتاح، لتكون محلًا للدراسة الماثلة. وهذه النماذج الثلاثة هي: الطبعة الرابعة من الكتاب الأحمر (عقد مقاولات أعمال الهندسة المدنية) الصادرة عام 1987 المعدلة عامي 1992 و1996، عقد التشييد لأعمال البناء والهندسة المصممة من رب العمل المعروف بالكتاب الأحمر الجديد الصادر عام 1999، عقد مشروعات تسليم المفتاح (هندسة شراء إنشاء) المعروف بالكتاب الفضي الصادر عام 1999.
وبناء على جميع ما تقدم، سيتم تقسيم هذه الدراسة إلى فصل تمهيدي عن المقصود بالعقود النموذجية وعقود الفيديك، ثم يعقبه خمسة فصول متتالية تتناول التمييز بين المطالبة والمنازعة، وتستعرض الآليات والإجراءات والمواعيد المقررة لتسوية المنازعات في عقود الفيديك.
