وبعد: فهذا كتاب القوافي لمصنّفه أمين الدين علي بن عثمان السليماني الإربلي المتوفى سنة 670هـ، وقد تناول فيه علم القوافي وإختلاف العلماء في حقيقتها، والحركات والعيوب الواقعة في بعض أشعار العرب، وما تفرّع من ذلك من فصول ومسائل.
وقد نهض بتحقيق هذا الكتاب الأستاذ محمد المصري رحمه الله تعالى؛ فقام بنسخ المخطوطة، وضَبَطَ بالحركات ما احتاج من الألفاظ إلى ضبط؛ لا سيّما ألفاظ الشواهد االشعرية، وشَرَح بعض المفردات عوناً للقارئ غيرِ المتخصص، وخَرَّج الآياتِ والأحاديث وشواهدَ الشِّعر، وعزا النُّصوصَ إلى مظانّها كلّما أمكنه ذلك، وصحّحَ التَّصحيفاتِ القليلةَ التي وجدها في المخطوطة اعتماداً على المصادر، وعرّفَ بالأعلام الواردة ذاكراً ذلك كلّه في الحواشي.
