يقول النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم "تعلموا انسابكم لتصلوا أرحامكم" فكيف إذا كان نسب آل الرسول عليهم السلام فمعرفتهم واجية وتتبع أنسابهم لأزمة لكل مسلم، فهم خيرة الله تعالى اختارها من خلقه لتحمل رسالة الإسلام إلى العالمين. وكتاب (عمدة الطالب في نسب آل أبي طالب)، ومختصره المسنى (تحفة الطالب) يأتي في هذا الباب (الأنساب) لمؤلفه النسابة الشهير جمال الدين أحمد بن علي الحسيني المعروف بـ ابن عنبة، تتبع فيه أنساب آل البيت ذاكراً عقب كل واحد منهم فجاء (كتاباً نفيس المطالب كما يفرح الطالب في أنساب آل أبي طالب، قرَب إلى إيجاز الألفاظ إطناب المعاني، واحتوى على مهمات الضوابط مع سهولة المباني يحتاج المبتدئ إلى مطالعته ولا يستغني المنتهي عن مراجعته...) ولأهمية هذا الأثر عزم كل من الشريف عبد الله السادة والأستاذ عارف أحمد عبد الغني على مراجعته وتصحيفه والتحقيق فيه بالإستناد إلى ستة مخطوطات نسبت إلى عمدة الطالب وبعد القراءة المتأنية، تم تقسيم الكتاب حسب ما هو بالأصل، وتمييز الآيات القرآنية، والأحاديث النبوية، والأشعار، وتخريجها من مظانها، وتابعاً عملها بـ إكمال نسب كل شخص ورد اسمه: من آل البيت حتى أحد الجذور المعروفة كالحسن المثنى، أو جعفر الصادق، أو موسى الجون... وغيرهم ثم أوردا كل اسم من الأسماء الواردة من المنسوبين لآل البيت، وفرزا هذه الأسماء حسب الترتيب الألفبائي، وذلك لمساعدة القارئ والباحث لمعرفة تسلسل نسب كل اسم.
