يعد هذا الكتاب نموذجا للدراسات الثقافية المقارنة وهذا الكتاب بالاضافة إلى قيمته الأكاديمية ، فانه يعطي القارئ العادي فرصة ليعرف أدب ثورتين ، ثورته المصرية والثورة الإيرلندية. وقد بنت المؤلف نظريتها على تشابه الظروف السياسية بين مصر وايرلندا في عشرينيات القرن العشرين، حيث كانت ثورة عيد الفصح في 1916هى بدء المقاومة المسلحة في إيرلندا . وكان عام 1919 في مصر إعلانا ببدء الثورة المصرية. وفي كلتا الحالتين لعب الأدب وخاصة الشعر والدراما دور هاما. وهو درو يثبت ان الثورات مصدر الهام لكل المبدعين الوطنيين، سواء كانت هذه الثورة اوربية أو افريقية ، فالثورات هى أساس تقدم الشعوب، وهى أيضا ركيزة الإلهام والابداع الثقافي والأدبي والفني.
