نعم، الشاعر يتحول إلى واحدة من الأساطير الوطنية عندما يتحول إلى مكون من مكونات روح الأمة، إلى جزء من الضمير الجماعي: الجميع يعرفه، الجميع يشعر أنه يتكلم بلسانه، الجميع يحفظ له شيئاً، الجميع يتماهى مع ما يقول، كثير من قصائده منقوش على ألواح حجرية في المناطق التي مرّ بها زائراً أو مقيماً من أجل العمل...
هذا في أمة كالأمة اليابانية تعرف القراءة والكتابة، وليس بينها أميّ واحد منذ قرن وأكثر، وتكاد تقدس الحرف وما ينتج عنه وتسمو بمبدعيها إلى مرتبة الألهة بعد رحيلهم.
ويتحول إلى أسطورة أكثر عندما يكون قد قضى حياته فقيراً، بائساً، يطرد من عمل لينتقل إلى عمل آخر، في منطقة أخرى، مهجوراً من الأقرباء والأصدقاء، تلاحقه الديون ومشكلات العائلة، وفوق كل هذا تراه كالسيل الجارف لا يتوقف عن الكتابة والإبداع... وفجأة يرحل.
يرحل قبل أن يتم عقده الثاني أو الثالث تاركاً وراءه أكداساً من المخطوطات التي لا أحد يعرف متى وكيف كتبها رغم بشاعة الظروف وقساوتها، والتي ستكون من كنوز ومفاخر الأمة رسمياً وشعبياً، فيبكيه الجميع، وينسجون حوله القصص والحكايات.
إن هذا الكتاب يتكون من مجموعتين شعريتين، كمشة من رمال والدمية الحزينة، أعدهما تاكوبوكو بنفسه، واختار نصوصهما من كل ما سبق له أن كتب ونشر، في الصحف والمجلات، من قصائد تانكا وغيرها من أشكال شعرية، وهو كثير جداً.
نشرت المجموعة الأولى في حياته والثانية بعيد موته كما رأينا، بهذا المعنى يمكن إعبتارهما أعماله الكاملة حقاً.
