كما أن الأمة الإسلامية نقاوة الأمم، كذلك أهل السنة هم نقاوة أهل الإسلام كما قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية، يعرف أهل السنة كذلك بــ "أهل الحديث، الفرقة الناجية، السلفين" ويطلق عليهم أعداؤهم ألقاب سوء نحو "الوهابية، الخامسية، الحشوية" فقد اختلف فيهم أهل الأهواء كما اقتسم سلفهم الطالح القول في رسول الله "صلى الله عليه وسلم"، فمنهم من وصفه بأنه شاعر، ومنهم من قال ساحر، ومنهم من قال مجنون.. إلخ.
فأهل السنة والجماعة، السلفيون، هذه هي صفتهم وعلاماتهم، الاتباع، والاقتداء برسول الله "صلى الله عليه وسلم" وتجنب الابتداع والشذوذ في الدين، وليس بالضرورة أن يكون لهم اسم واحد، أو تضمهم جماعة واحدة، أو يحويهم وطن واحد، ومن ثم فليس للسلفية وكيل حصري، ولا يحل لأحد أن يتحكم في ذلك فيدخل من يشاء فيها ويخرج من يشاء، أو يقصرها على جماعة واحدة أو طائفة معينة ولا في عصر دون عصر.. أما بعد، فهذا بحث عن السلفية عن تعريفها، وأهم معتقداتها، وما يميزها عن الفرق الأخرى وعن أهم الفرق والجماعات السلفية في السودان الآن.
