كان ولا يزال في عالمنا رجال كل همهم أن يرفعوا رايات التحرر عن كل بلد طالها الاستعمار، ويتحملوا في سبيل ذلك كثيرًا من الآلام من أجل إنقاذ أمم قد لا تمت لهم بأية صلة، ولكن فقط حبًّا في الحرية لذاتها، ورغبة في إحياء الناس تحت ظلها.
من هؤلاء الرجال كان "تشي جيفار" أشهر من ناضل، وقاد الثورات ضد الاحتلال والأنشطة الاستعمارية، وساند حركات التحرر في كثير من الدول المستعمرة.كانت له اليد الطولى في تحرير كوبا ثم في بنائها اقتصاديًّا وسياسيًّا ثم العودة إلى ميدان النضال إلى أن قتل غيلة على أيدي المخابرات الأمريكية، حتى صار أسطورة شعبية تُحكَى إلى يومنا. وكان من الطبيعي أن رجلاً في قامة جيفارا وبصفاته تتضارب فيه الآراء, وتكثر حوله الشائعات الروايات ومنها من ترفعة إلى درجات القديسين ومنها من تهبط به دركات في سلم الإنسانية.
وفي هذا الكتاب– عزيزي القارئ- نبسط لحياة جيفارا وسيرة نضاله، بداية من ظروف مولده ونشأته، وانتقاله إلى ميادين النضال، ومرورًا بتحريره لكوبا، ومحاولاته لمساندة كثير من الدول التي طالها الاحتلال, وانتهاء بقتله، وكذلك التعرف على فكره في السياسة والاقتصاد.
