دون أن ينظر سحب الفرشاة وبدأ يغسل أسنانه كما تعود كل يوم منذ طفولته البعيدة، فتلك اللحظات هي أحب إلى نفسه، عندما يقف أمام المرآة ويسترجع أحلامه السابقة أحلامه البعيدة والقريبة، وشرد في حلمه الذي امتد طيلة الليلة الماضية حتى أفاق على منبه المحمول بجواره. كانا صغيرين يمرحان ويلعبان من حولهما، كانت السعادة تغمرهما فالأولاد زينة الحياة الدنيا، وقد أنعم عليه الرحمن بصبي يبهر كل من يراه بذكائه وطلاقة لسانه، وصبية ليست كبنات اليوم، فهي تجمع بين الفطنة والجمال مع حياء نادر بين قريناتها، وزوجة هي إلى مصاف القديسات تكاد ترتقي، حياة حلوة بسيطة كأنها شهر عسل مقسوم على أربعة قلوب مليئة بالحب، كان حلماً جميلاً، فقد زارته زوجته في نومه بثوب العرس، والغريب لا شئ مستغرب في الأحلام، أن ولديهما كانا يحملان طرحة الزفاف لأمهما، وكان يدرك أن هذين هما ولداه، لكنه كان يحلم ولا وقت لديه للدهشة، هاهي كعكة الزفاف وهاهم المهنئون يتوافدون عليهما لتهنئتهما بالزفاف السعيد.
