أمر اللَّـه المؤمنين بذكره تعالى فقال:} يا أيها الذين ءامنوا اذكروا الله ذكرًا كثيرًا وسبحوه بكره وأصيلًا {[ الأحزاب: 41، 42 ] وكان النبي (ص) ذاكرًا للَّـه تعالى في كل أحيانه وعلى جميع أحواله، فكان ذكره للَّـه تعالى يجري مع أنفاسه؛ قائمًا وقاعدًا وعلى جنبه وفي مشيه وركوبه ومسيره ونزوله وظعنه وإقامته، فساحة ذكر اللَّـه واسعة تشمل جوانب الحياة كلها، ويتغلل الذكر في أعمال الإنسان ونطقه وسكوته، وسره وجهره، على انفراد أو في جماعة، وكل ذلك بشروطه وآدابه.
