لما رأيت كلام الأجلاء ممن علت كلمتهم وانبسطت في الآفاق حكمتهم وعمت في البرايا بركتهم قد ألفوا في التصريف بالاسماء والصفات واسرار الحروف والاذكار والدعرات وقد رغب إلى من متعلق بي وده في توضيح ما الفوه وذخيره ما كنزوه فأجبته مع الاقرار بالعجز عن فهم مدارك السلف الماضين والائمة المحققين الهادين ورجوت من الله بذلك الاعتراف والاقتراف أن يمدني من ارواح ارواجهم بلطائف الاسعاف فيكون النطق موافقا للتحقيق ومفصلا بلسان التصديق (فأقول) وبالله المستعان وعليه التكلان: إن المقصود من فصول هذا الكتاب لم يشرف اسماء الله تعالى وما اودع الله تعالى بي بحرها من أنواع الجواهر الحكميات وجعلت هذا الكتاب فصولا ليدل كل فصل على ما اختاره وأحصاه من علوم دقيقة، وسميته "شمس المعارف ولطائف العوارف" واتبعته باربعة رسائل للسيد عبد القادر الحسينى الأذهمي.
