الأدوات النحوية أو المفردات أو حروف المعاني مصطلحات أطلقها النحاة على تلك الكلمات التى لا تحمل دلالة مستقلة في ذاتها، بل تكتسب دلالتها من السياق اللغوي.
وقد جاءت الدراسات السابقة للأدوات نظرية تعتمد على شواهد قليله، واذا كان معنى الأداة لا يتضح إلا بوظيفتها السياقية فإن دراسة هذه الأدوات في نص متكامل هو القرآن الكريم لابد ان تعطي نتائجها التطبيقية التى قد تتفق أو تختلف وتلك الأقوال النظرية.
يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى دراسة تلك الأدوات من حيث وظائفها ودلالاتها، كما يتطرق إلى قضايا تناوب الحروف والمعنى والتضمين وتعلق الأفعال بالحروف ، ودلالة الأفعال والزمن.
وتوسع الكتاب ليضم أيضا العلاقة بين دلالة مجموعة من الأفعال التى تشبه الأدوات في وظائفها وكذلك المشتقات.
وفي كل ذلك يعتمد الكتاب على النص القرآني بسياقه اللغوي وغير اللغوي ، وعلى أقوال معربي القرآن.
