هذا البحث هو تشخيص لفلسفة وفكر جهاديي أوروبا ومتطرفيها وأصولييّها في نشاطهم المسلح داخل البيئة الأوروبية للجهاديين، وهي دراسة لفكرهم، حالاتهم، سلوكهم، تنظيمهم وبدائله، استراتيجيتهم، نشاطهم، انتقالهم خارج القارة وعودتهم، وفق منهجية الاغتراب ودراسات علم النفس السياسي وعلم النفس التحليلي [عند يونغ] على اعتبار "أن كل أحد غيرنا قد يفهمنا خيراً مما نفهم أنفسنا" علاوة على منهج التحليل النقدي حيث يتطلب الأمر. ولأن الدراسة تتناول أشخاصاً غير منتظمين، غير خاضعين لعنوان جماعة، وغير مرتبطين ببعضهم، فسوف يصعب علينا تأكيد المهمة العلمية ما لم نأخذ بمنهج اقتراب الثقافة السياسية ومقتربات تحليل الجماعة. ونتيجة لأسباب تفوّق نشاط تلك الكتيبة، فقد أخذنا بهذا التركيز على أوروبا دون عموم الغرب - مع إن الغرب الأمريكي هو اللاعب الأكبر في لُعبة الجهاد، وهذا هو جزء من حيرّتنا العلمية - لأسباب أبرزها: أن سطوّة الكتيبة في أوروبا مقرها ومستودعها ومختبر تجاربها حيث باريس، أمستردام، مونيبلك، سيلدروف، قياساً بأمريكا أولاً، ثم انتقال بيئات المعركة وجغرافيا الحرب في فكر السلفية الجهادية من خصمها التقليدي أمريكا إلى خصمها الجديد أوروبا ثانياً، ثم استبعاد من هو أخطر على العرب وأقدس مقدساتهم هو "الكيان الصهيوني" ثالثاً، جعلنا نتوقف عند أوروبا مع الإشارات والإحالات لأمريكا حيث يتطلب النقاش والتحليل حضوراً لدور الولايات المتحدة، وذكرها، حيث توجد ثمة دوافع لتحوّل الخطاب الإسلامي الراديكالي لتنظيمات السلفية الجهادية "داعش"، الذي عكس رؤية مغايرة وخلافية لرؤية تنظيم القاعدة المركزية وجبهتها العالمية، قالباً الطاولة على سُلم أولويات لإعادة ترقيم أعداء المسلمين من جديد وفق تفضيلات ما زالت مجهولة.
