الدارسون لشعر مظفر النوّاب يجمعون على أن شعره متعدد الأساليب والأشكال، وهو متطوّر من مرحلة لأخرى، الأمر الذي يعطيه ويكسبه حالة من الديناميكية بشكل دائم، لا سيما بعد مرحلة الستينات، المرحلة التي قفز بها من الشعر الكلاسيكي إلى شعر الحداثة المعاصرة.
لذلك، شكّلت قصائده بأسلوبها المعاصر قطيعة عمّا سبقها من قصائد الشعراء الكلاسيكيّين في العراق، من الذين سبقوه، وقد ألهمت قصائد النوّاب السبعينيّة - وهي الأكثر نضجاً وحداثة - الكثير من شعراء الجيل التجديدي من الشباب الذين جاؤوا بعده، وبصورة لم يستطيعوا فيها تجاوز منجزه الإبداعي.
في هذه الدراسة يقدم الباحث د. خير الله سعيد، صورة مختلفة عن باقي الدراسات التي كتبت عنه، من عدّة زوايا مختلفة تخص رؤية النواب ذاته إلى شعره الشعبي بشكلٍ خاص.
