بين العتمة والضوء، فرق كبير، فالصيد في العتمة، ليس كالصيد في الضوء، يستنفذ طاقة من الصبر، ولكن الأحلام تستحق المغامرة "لكن حْلمي يهوى الصيَّد في العتمة... يُسَدِّدُ جفنةُ بخفةٍ... وأياً كانت الحوريَّةُ يُدركها... في الغابة... حيث أمشي بين شفرات الفؤوس... لا تجرحني شفرات الفؤوس... في الغابة... ظلال تهتز كأوتار الكمنجات... وطيوف تتسلقُ السحابة أهدابها... من ثقب في ثوب النسمة تُلقى همسها الخمري... وعلى الأنامل تلقي إبتسامات من شغف".
وبهذا المعنى، جعل الشاعر من أصوات الطبيعة تكنيك سيمي يتحرك على وفق عملية التحول من فعل الرؤية المتمثلة باللحظة الزمنية الخاطئة إلى فعل الرؤية حيث مستوى الإتجار والتحول في صورة المرأة (الحورية) الجميلة، وَجعلِها لحظة واحدة تتجسد في القول الشعري القول الذي جعل من ديوان الشاعر "الصيد في العتمة" أيقونة للحب ومعالجة الألم بالصبر وبالحلم.
محمد علي سرور: أيها الصوت الدافئ الدفين في العمق، الصوت الذي نقل ما بعالم الكون الداخلي للإنسان، وأجبرنا على أن نحمل معنا شيئاً من الدهشة والحنين والحزن رغماً عنا، نقول لك جعلت من العتمة ضوءاً يسري في عالمنا، هكذا هو محمد علي سرور، فنصوصه على الرغم من واقعيتها فرضت خيالاً ساحراً، لا نمل قراءته أبداً.
يضم الديوان قصائد نثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "عندما ارتديت الظل"، "ليتني ما أنحيت"، "رويداً يشربني النعاس"، "أيها العابر"، "الصيد في العتمة"، "لا تتبعني"، "شهوة الفجيعة"، "أنثى تدعى الحرب"، "أخاف أن أغازلك الآن"... وقصائد أخرى.
