"دون جيوفاني" هي إحدى روائع قصص الأوبرا العالمية للكاتب الإيطالب لورينزو دي بونتي" نقلها إلى العربية مارك عبود. تتمحور القصة حول شخصية دون جيوفاني ومغامراته مع النساء. فيظهر لنا في القصة شاب شديد الوسامة ولبق يتقن غواية النساء وإغرائهن ثم هجرهن دون أي وازع من ضمير. ففي مفتتح القصة نراه يتسلل إلى مخدع "دونا أنا" إبنة القائد محاولاً إغراءها. وعندما تصرخ للنجدة يهرع والدها لمساعدتها، ولكن دون جيوفاني يطلب مبارزته ويرديه قتيلاً. فتقسم "أنا" على الثأر لوالدها، يساعدها دون أوتافيو، الرجل الذي أحبها بصمت. وفي القصة لا تتوقف مغامرات دون جيوفاني على "أنا" وحدها فتقع على مزيج من الضحايا، فهناك العاشقة الولهانة "دونا ألفيرا" التي هجرها دون جيوفاني بعد علاقة قصيرة والتي تلحق به في كل مكان يذهب إليه محاولة استعادة حبها الضائع. وهناك الفلاحة "زرلينا" التي تحتفل بزواجها بالمزارع "مازيتو" بعد علاقة حب طويلة والتي يحضر دون جيوفاني زفافها، ويقرر إغواءها في نفس الليلة وإبعادها عن حبيبها مغرياً إياها بزواج وهمي ووعود كاذبة. تتوالى الأحداث في القصة حتى تجتمع النساء الثلاث مرة واحدة لمواجهة دون جيوفاني المخادع، ولكن الأخير يطلب من خادمه ليبوريللو أن يتقمص شخصيته كي يتمكن من الهرب. ولكن تمثال (الكومنداتور) الذي يمثل الخير سوف يواجه الشرير دون جيوفاني ويحرقه في نهاية القصة. في مثل هذه النهاية الروحية وشبه السحرية تنتهي حكاية الدون جوان "عبس التمثال بجيوفاني المتباهي واختفى. فانشقت الأرض وخرجت النيران العميقة الملتهبة نحو جيوفاني لتأخذه (...) حاول الهرب لكنه لم يستطع أن يتفادى شرارات اللهب التي اقتربت منه أكثر. وسرعان ما اجتازه لهب الجحيم المشتعل وابتلعه. أخيراً، غرق جيوفاني في عمق الألم والدمار إلى الأبد".
