يتناول هذا الكتاب في فصوله الثلاثة مقدمة تتناول أهداف البحث ومضمونه، وتعريف بأسلوب العرض مع بيان أهمية الموضوع من خلال الأحداث التي شهدتها الهند أواسط الثمانينيات وما تلاها. في فصله الأول: اخترنا أن نوجز الواقع الجغرافي والسكاني والإجتماعي لجمهورية الهند ومكانة الطائفة السيخية فيها، مع تركيز خاص على إقليم البنجاب موطن السيخ التاريخي. أما الفصل الثاني: فقد فتحنا في قسمه الأول صفحات التاريخ لمعرفة الأصول التاريخية لنشوء العقيدة السيخية وما شهدته من تطورات، ثم تعريف بالأركان الأساسية لتطبيق العقيدة. أما قسمه الثاني فيستعرض تاريخ واقع العقيدة والحركة السيخية في فترة قيادة المعلمين العشرة السيخ لأبناء طائفتهم مع تركيز على فترة حكم رانجيت سنغ الذي يعتبر أشهر شخصية في تاريخ السيخ (مع أنه ليس من المعلمين العشرة) لكونه مؤسس مملكة السيخ والذي اعتبرت وفاته موتاً لمملكة السيخ. أخيراً يتناول القسم الثالث من هذا الفصل، وبشئ من التفصيل، واقع الطائفة السيخية جغرافياص وسكانياً وإجتماعياً وإقتصادياً، بالإضافة إلى بيان أهم العادات (الدينية) والشعبية التي يمارسها السيخ، وفي الفصل الثالث: تناولنا موقع السيخ كطائفة ومعتقد بين الديان والمذاهب الرئيسية التي تتوزع بين أبناء الهند والتي لا تزال تلعب في أحيان كثيرة الدور الأساسي في تكتلات الهنود وانتماءاتهم السياسية والفكرية، ويلي الفصل الثالث: بحث يتناول تحليل ما سبق تناوله في الفصول السابقة حول مستقبل الحركة السيخية والاتجاه الإنفصالي داخلها بعد أحداث عام 1948، يليه استنتاج الكاتب حول حاضر ومستقبل الهند من خلال التعامل مع المسألة السيخية.
