الزيتونُ المقدسُ هي السنة الخامسة التي أمحلتْ مواسمُه وجفتْ ثماره ومرضتْ أوراقه.
قالتْ لي أمي ذاتَ شروق، الزيتون رضا الآلهة عنا وصورةُ أعمالنا، عندما كُنَّا أصفياءَ القلوب، أنقياءَ السريرة كان الخيُر العميم، كان الزيتُ يفيضُ من الجرارِ والقمحُ مبارك لنا فيه، وخبزُنا زوادةُ كل عابر، وعندما فسدتْ الضمائر وأسوَدت القلوب وتزغزغت النوايا، أمسَتْ الأرضُ يباباً، هكذا أخبرها الأولياءُ الصالحون.
هي تجهل أنَّ ما دُفِنَ من سموم في هذي الأرض، يمتصُ روحَ الحياةِ ويعقمُ البشرَ والشجرَ والحجر كذلك، والإنسان ديدنه عرقلة عمل الأم الكبرى، أمنا الطبيعة، ووضع العصي في عجلاتِها الدائرة.
