تسير رسائل محمد صبر عبيد في أروقة التجربة الذاتيّة، والخاطرة الذاتيّة، والشهادة الذاتيّة، والمقالة الذاتيّة، والشهادة الغيريّة الأدبيّة، والرسالة الشخصيّة، وغيرها، فضلاً عن مقاطع مُضمَّنة في المتون تحتوي على الإعترافات والذكريات.
وقد انطوى عدد منها على تنويعات عاطفيّة مع نساء مجهولات، ففي هذا النوع من الرسائل يختفي اسم الشريك، ولا يظهر له أثر في المروي، ويلزم للتعرّف على الشخصيّة السيريّة أن تقبل بحضورها في النصّ من خلال لعبة الضمائر ولا سيما ضمائر الخطاب، إذ يشكل ضمير المخاطبة المساحة الطبيعيّة للرسائل السياقيّة، لِما تقدمه من مواجهة مُفترضة عبر آليّة الحوار من طرف واحد، الذي يتولى إكتناف المشاعر والأحلام والصراع والإملاءات العاطفيّة المتوجهة، وشَغل الفراغ - الذي تصنعه فجوة الغياب المفروضة - بسلاسل الكلام.
ويعدّ هذا إجراءً يتناسب مع نيّة التكتّم، ومراعاة السريّة التامّة، تماشياً مع تابو فوقيّ يشكل مهيمنة أخلاقيّة، على أنّ هذا يتجسد أيضاً في اللغة الشعريّة، التي تحرّض السرد على التمويه، والحدّ من ظهور هيكليّة مُصرّح بها في التركيب الخبريّ.
ويتميّز أيضاً في موضوع الخروج إلى أماكن جديدة غير مألوفة غالباً ما تحظى بوصف إحتفاليّ، لأنها أماكن غُفل استطاعت احتضان ما لم تقوَ أماكن الألفة على إحتضانه.
